How does spark erosion work?
We have a long history of providing the finest mould reamer products to our customers. These are essential utensils when you are participating in mould repair. Normal reamers aren't really appropriate for moulds. However, our products are perfect for them and deliver excellent results. Plus, we have the facilities to work in many other areas. Examples include universal, surface, and CNC grinding, spark and wire eroding, and laser engraving.
Spark erosion is probably a term you have seen if you work in an industry that relies on machinery. This process, as well as others, are utilised to remove metal via electric currents. It happens under conditions the user controls carefully.
You can use spark erosion to manufacture a wide array of metal parts. Saying this, other common uses include removing broken studs, bolts, taps, and drill bits from inside a machine casing. You can do it without harming the casing or threads.
Disintegration mechanisms
We perform spark erosion with metal disintegration mechanisms. They make use of electrodes to transport high current/voltage electrical charges. These melt the set piece of metal. While this happens, cold water thermal shocks the molten metal, pulverising it into small pieces. Finally, they flush away.
There is no direct contact here between the machine casting and electrodes. Because of this, spark erosion lets you operate with the weakest materials and most intricate sections. You can do it without the risk of distortion.
The benefits
The precision here is what makes spark erosion the most efficient means of salvaging parts you couldn't otherwise use. The technique is also simple to use and cost efficient. In addition, the setup and breakdown procedures are quick, and one person can easily manage the operation. Maintenance is minimal too.
Speak to us if you need a mould reamer, spark erosion, and more
At Penico Gauges, we provide the mould reamers in a plethora of sizes. They range from 2" to 7". In other words, we can provide them for each size of mould. Moreover, we are able to create special sizes if you request them.
On top of that we can arrange the specialist services we spoke about at the start of this post. So, if there is anything you need, whether it is a mould reamer or spark erosion, please don't hesitate to ask.
